Rainbow Sunflower

Sometimes astonishing little moments of beauty appear by chance through my window in Cornwall – like someone performing magic before my eyes. Daring me to believe and stop looking for the catch.

Suddenly, I’m pinned to the spot as time stands still. Holding my breath in those seconds that draw me in like a disciple to awe.

This first full rainbow I’ve seen in ages casts its passing glow of light on my baby sunflower as it nestles beneath so beautifully in bloom. Like a gorgeous halo of love that can only linger for so long before the rain sweeps through to melt it away.

But, oh my, how it leaves me still savouring the scent of that memory in my soul. Like the self same tingle I feel when I emerge from a cold, calm, sunset sea…
