Rain on My Window

Today in Cornwall I woke up at sunrise to the gentle sound of rain on my window. Instead of rushing to open it up as I ordinarily would, I paused… and became mesmerised instead by the golden droplets almost dribbling down the pane at the delicious thought of the coming day.

I find rain so comforting. This morning I felt warmed and held by that caramel glow. I recalled I used to love looking at rain on windows as a child. There was a lot of it in Glasgow it has to be said.

Back in those days, oh how I could be lost for hours. Doing nothing. Staring. Dreaming. Just being there camped out fully in that moment. Tracking those watery beads with my fingers as I did. Trying to magic them into moving in a different direction of flow.

Decades on it’s taken a global crisis to slow my world down again. To make me realise how much I need those raindrops at sunrise. How much I need to trust each moment will carry me safely to the next. Like beautiful divine droplets dancing their way down my window. Just feeling life. In flow. Come rain or shine ?
