Portals to Peace

There has rarely been a more pressing time to find portals to peace. Those windows inside ourselves that we can fling open to let the air in when things feel rough.

Those windows that can gaze upon a million possible memories to tide us through. To calm us. To lift us. To remind and redeem us.

This is one of those peaceful windows of mine from pre-covid travelling days. A moment of marvelling under the magic of a solar halo in the middle of a forest in Portugal…while riding on the back of a bay coloured horse.

That beautiful horse that carried me in time with my breath as I leant back in the saddle looking upwards in awe. Hands off the reins, trusting that path, as I smiled like a child capturing the sky in my heart.

That window that let me feel the Mediterranean breeze in the embrace of those trees with the smell of that horse…and the soul holding peace in the sound of its neigh ?
