My Tiny Little Park

Hi from Shenzhen, China.

Do you see that patch of trees way down there? This is the view from my bedroom window. Those trees have been my sanctuary and gym in these months of isolation in China. In a neighborhood that is addicted to building skyscrapers, I thank God for what I lovingly refer to as: My Tiny Little Park. I run and pray there just about every day. Four loops around MTLP running (slowly I might add), four loops of prayer: Adoration, Confession, Thanksgiving, Requests. Good for the body, good for the soul.

In these days the world must become our sanctuary. With houses of worship closed, the onus is on each one of us to personally turn our eyes to God and meet with Him. And when we draw near to God, He draws near to us.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7

Shalom, friends. With love from China.

Came across your post in the view from window group on FB. Liked what you said and how you said it and was pleased to find the link to your blog. Out of curiosity, do your schools do any type of therapy with the children in orphanages?

Hi Tammy, so great to hear from you, thanks for coming over here to say hello.

Our schools only focus on education – and mainly special education since almost all of our students have special needs. And our schools are always in the context of a government orphanage. The orphanages often have therapy for the students. Mostly physical therapy, and maybe a little occupational therapy. Depending on the size and means of the orphanage, they usually have a medical staff that work regularly with the kids. There are also many wonderful NGOs that come in and provide therapy for different orphanages. Thanks for asking! Are you a therapist?
