Mayon Volcano

The convenience of air travel has been overtaken by fear of contagion. So what we see is a flurry of travel overland in the Philippines. What used to take a brief 45 min flight now is a slow 12 hour slog via “pony express”. Somehow scenes like this mitigates the tedium.

This is a drive-by shooting of the majestic Mayon Volcano located in Legazpi City, Albay, in the Bicol region, Philippines. This is a place where the food is spicy, the volcanos active, the men gallant, and the women beautiful. ? The Bicol region gets pummelled by typhoons regularly but these disasters make the land so fertile and the people resilient saying, “meh” to events that regularly make the news. There is an appreciation for life because of the constancy of danger. I really like this region of the Philippines.
