Dancing in the Sunlight

It feels hard to believe it’s been over 4 months I’ve been trying to fully recover from the impact of covid-19. I’m only one of many who’ve been experiencing the so called “long haul” version of the virus.

In my case, life has certainly been a very up and down healing journey. But I’ve always tried to hang on tightly to every single up moment along the way – no matter how small. This group has certainly helped me with that and I’m very thankful to so many of you.

And, tonight, I had one of those really gorgeous ups – an up that even surprised a pigeon to fly away quick smart. I was busy buzzing at the beauty of the golden light that hits the river Tamar here in Cornwall in the early summer evenings. Then, as the river began to still, I had a sudden urge to move…

I put on one of my favourite songs really loudly and for the first time in months I started…dancing. I love dancing. And there I was outside on my deck dancing like there was no tomorrow for those five whole precious golden minutes.

Everything was moving. Me, the pigeon, the light, the river, the warm evening air. Dancing barefoot with a heart bursting sense of more solid ground beneath me – feeling the possibility of life returning. Feeling as lifted up as that little pigeon who couldn’t help but take flight… ?
