At a Stretch

It’s the only window I’ve never been able to show you. You may well relate. That completely unreachable window that, for whatever reason, feels a million miles away. The great untouchable in the sky…but the only window that breeds spiders like you’ve never seen before.

Cobwebs that grow lengthways and end up like water snakes dangling and writhing like dancing lines of dust above you. Glinting and moving in the sunlight. Almost taunting you.

Yes, I know, I should have one of those pole things that can reach such windows. But I don’t. Yet, today, I was suddenly determined. Determined to finally get rid of that unbearable mass of spiderwebs that’s been growing above my head for so long here in Cornwall.

So, there I found myself, searching high and low, trying to work out how on earth to do it. In the end, all I could find was two mops and a ball of string. Which, it transpires, was exactly enough. Oh yes.

Picture the scene, as I tried to bind those two mops together with the string to create something long enough to reach up to finally clean that window after 8 months.

From every angle I reached out. And, finally, it happened. The window was clean. The spiders gone. The mops and string that had exaltingly triumphed ?

?? I related to this completely as I too have a window just like yours. A velux unreachable spider filled window. I can’t even Open it as I don’t have a pole long enough at the moment.
Interesting you are originally from Scotland and now living in Cornwall I have recently moved to the highlands from the south coast of Hampshire. xx

Ah yes those pesky unreachable spiders! The spiders must know it’s beautiful up there in the Highlands ?
