Anniversary Ode

An Anniversary Ode ❤️

When she was born, I loved her truly
The nurses called her “Drooly Julie”.
I named her Devon, like the cream
A baby girl! She was my dream.

But not a stitch of hair had she
Until her age turned almost three.
And then, it grew for miles and miles!
The thought of that still makes me smile.

A mini-me in many ways
Her huge brown eyes would gently gaze.
Her laugh, infectious to her friends
Would make ME laugh for hours on end.

Her Dad and I went separate ways.
I couldn’t see her every day.
But still I loved my little girl,
The sweetest child in all the world.

She got a Bachelors Degree —
A scientist she strived to be.
Rekindling her affection for
The guy she’d dated years before.

They’d met in school, had separate “flings”
But we all know the joy it brings
When later years prove, after all
That Patrick, standing dark and tall
Became the one my daughter loves.
They are my gift, from God above.

Their anniversary is today!
And though they are so far away,
The joy they bring me never ends.
Please wish them “Mazeltov”, my friends!

Love and light from Cyprus
